China Palace Takeaway Athenry

Haven't had food here for a number of years as hadn't really eaten Chinese food for years myself and husband said we give it a try as a change unfortunately I'm sorry we did .. we got a takeaway this evening. the crispy duck and orange chicken .. crispy was an understament you couldn't eat a lot of the meat the same with chicken skewers they all appeared to be over cooked and tough to point where u couldnt even chew some of it and the Sauces were quite bland .. the spring rolls were also quite tasteless thick and heavy the chicken cashew was good no issues with that as was the rice the price was very reasonable for the amount of food we got we got enough as we though we could have had some tomorrow evening but it will go to waste I'm afraid disappointing.. especially for a restaurant that has been open in athenry for so many years the staff seemed friendly and it was ready in 20 mins as described perhaps we just tried it on the wrong night . As many other reviews seem so positive 🤷‍♀️

Very bad customer service. We visited this hotel expecting both takeaway and dine-in service. There was a dining area available, but when we asked about dining in, firstly they told there is no dine-in and later they told we can use any of the empty table inside. While we were seated one of the staff informed us that the dine-in rates were higher. The way this was communicated felt unprofessional and unfriendly. Due to this experience, we decided not to stay and left. While they thanked us when we left, the overall interaction was disappointing. From this we understood the staffs don't know to treat a customer. Better customer service and clearer communication would improve the experience.

Update:
We had food delivered and it was perfect, I don’t think could be done better. Really, all the compliments to the chef and thank you.

Tasty food, kind personnel, even though, I would like to suggest to think about introducing shiitake in some dishes.
